About the event

Normal? Compared to Who?

Your Bell Curve Has Secrets.

You know the bell curve. You've studied it, used it, and probably explained it to hundreds of people. But how well do you really know it?

What if some of the assumptions behind your everyday test interpretations aren't quite what you think? What if an unusual score isn't actually that unusual? And what happens when new research challenges the way we've been thinking about intelligence?

In this lively, slightly irreverent one-hour CE workshop, we're pulling back the curtain on psychology's most recognizable curve. We'll expose common misconceptions, question the meaning of familiar cutoffs, and explore surprising findings from contemporary assessment research.

From percentile ranks and the myth of “normal” to the secrets hiding in cognitive profiles, we'll revisit the statistics you thought you knew—and discover why they matter more than you might remember.

Registration Information & Policies

1. Because of the nature of some of the workshops, particularly those related to psychological testing and assessment, you may be asked for your degree/training, your license state, and license number for purposes related to test security. Julie A Keen, LLC reserves the right to disinvite participants if they do not meet prerequisite qualifications for a training (and will provide a refund, as appropriate).

2. If you require accommodations to fully experience the workshop, please include that information as part of your registration, and every effort will be made to implement reasonable requests for accommodations.

3.  Because the CE opportunities are predominantly conducted by Julie Keen, Psy.D., the organization has secured the agreement of volunteer psychologists that may be contacted if there is a conflict of interest with the instructor/owner of the organization. If you have a complaint about a presenter, conditions of training, or the company, please consider providing feedback directly. Every attempt at active listening will be utilized to make providing feedback a positive experience. If direct feedback is not an option, or if you are unsatisfied with the conversation, you can submit a complaint to: JKPsyDFeedback@gmail.com where it will be received by a psychologist volunteer who will keep your identity anonymous, unless you explicitly ask otherwise. See full Complaint Procedure here.

4. In order to receive CE Credit, you must be present for the entire workshop. Participant attendance will be monitored at intervals throughout the workshop. Refunds for incomplete workshop attendance will not be offered except for the most extenuating circumstances.

5. If you cannot attend a workshop you registered for, a refund may be offered in advance to the start of the workshop. You must contact Julie A Keen LLC by email (info@juliekeenpsyd.com) or phone (860-251-9508) prior to the start of the said workshop in order to be eligible for a refund.
